QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Here you will find the most common questions I receive.
If your question is not here you can just contact me or try a lesson
and answer it through the experience itself!
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
"IS THE A.T. RIGHT FOR ME?"
Most of the times people come to the A.T. to improve their posture, reduce stress, deal with pain or for performatic reasons.
But the truth is, everyone can benefit from it.
"WHERE DO YOU TEACH?"
Oud Charlois, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
"HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?"
To see the prices cick here
"ARE THESE INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP LESSONS?"
Since every body has a different habitual pattern of use, the best way to make a real progress is to have a personalized approach.
That is why the lessons are individual.
"WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE AND A MASSAGE SESSION?"
In the A.T. there is no massage, it is about movement and use. The teacher uses his/her hands in a very particular and gentle way. Subtly moving the student´s body to release unnecessary muscle tension and to become aware of the general state.
"HOW MANY LESSONS DO I NEED TO SEE PROGRESS?"
It is difficult to set a fixed amount of time because it depends on the person. But I would say that 4 lessons are needed to understand what the technique is really about. And 20/30 lessons are needed to see real changes
"WILL IT HELP ME WITH WITH MY BACK AND NECK PAIN?"
Yes! If you are patient and allow yourself to experience new ways of movement in the lesson and later in your daily life, you will experience a change in the way you feel your body. It takes time but it is a process that guarantees a real improvement
"WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?"
Just comfortable and rather loose clothes that allow movement.
For women wearing trousers is suggested.
SINGING LESSONS
"DO I NEED TO WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES?"
Preferably yes but it's not a requirement. The singing lessons with this method include specific body movements that positively influence the vocal function so in order to be able to move freely it's better to have comfortable clothes.
"HOW IS THE LESSON STRUCTURED?"
The first part of the lesson consists of vocalizing in order to organize the instrument (the body) and learn how it works. Then, we integrate the new learnings into a song of your choice, according to the present possibilities.
"DO I NEED TO HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH MUSIC OR SINGING?"
Not at all. Each student is different therefore each lesson is different. My job is to teach anyone and adapt to the student's level so everyone can enjoy!
"ARE THESE INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP LESSONS?"
It depends on what you want to focus on. If you want to focus on your vocal technique then individual lessons are the best option. If you have musical experience then it is possible to do duo lessons.
"I SING/I'VE BEEN TOLD I SING TERRIBLY, CAN I DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT?"
Everybody can learn how to sing! There is a common misconception that singing is a gift for some, but this is not true, we all an learn and improve our singing quality. It requires time, patience and consistent work, but it is definitely possible!
"HOW MANY LESSONS DO I NEED TO BECOME A GOOD SINGER?"
It is not possible to establish how many lessons will be needed to reach the student's goals since everybody has a different story, body biography and psyhophysical habits, so this means that each one of us has an individual learning process.
"ARE THE LESSONS ONLINE OR IN PERSON?"
"HOW LONG DO LESSONS LAST?"
A singing lessons lasts 60min.
Face-to-face lessons are always suggested but doing it online is always an option when this is not possible.
